I had always been a "cat & bird person" until my retirement recently.
For the first time in my life, I considered owning a dog to keep me company when my (ex-)spouse was at work or when she was busy creating her exclusive line of silver jewelry (link).
My requirements were: a breed that was small, clean, quiet, required little or no grooming, and has a playful disposition. Searching the Internet I encountered a dog breed with an unusual characteristic: they don't bark ...
And thus, in March 2008, began our adventures with the Basenji !
